Pine Woods | Emil Carlsen, ca. 1910-1920

I can't tell if this scene feels incredibly serene or if it makes me feel like I have reach the outer perimeter in the 74th Hunger Games.

I think I find it calming. The small peaks of blue sky through the trees is hopeful. The leaves on the trees are a lively green. The boulders in the foreground seem like a lovely place to sit and relax or maybe picnic.
