Study for Porch Painting | Jack Beal, c. 1945

This piece is surprising modern for a artwork made in the 40s. You could easily convince me this was made by a young 27 year old girl yesterday. I could even believe this might be from the 60s or 70s, but I don't typically associate such vibrant color with the era of World War II. The war was obviously huge, but I guess other things had to be going on too.
