Promeneuse au Bord de la Mer | Louis Valtat, ca. 1903
Promeneuse au Bord de la Mer | Louis Valtat, ca. 1903

If you were to ask me what this title meant before I put it through google translate, I would have said “promenading in a field by the sea.” And I must be bilingual because the actual title is “Walker by the Sea.”

I love how impressionistic and gestural this scene is. If you were just walking by, you could easily mistake the girl in the field for a rogue highlight or patch of light. And in some ways she is a sort of patch if light. As soon as she appears, the joy in her step is obvious and radiates from the scene. Oh to be frolicking on a field by the ocean right now.

Also, I don’t know what is wrong with me. I keep being late and missing days. I’m a mess.
