As I do more and more of these Daily Art Finds, I am realizing I have an affinity for a vast expansive landscape with a small isolated building in the middle. This composition just always illicit some sort of emotional response from me. The emotions range from positive like the hope of new beginnings and the peacefulness of nature’s beauty all the way to negative feelings like sentiments of isolation and loneliness.
This piece gives me a mix of emotions. To me, the building looks to be forgotten. Not necessarily forgotten in a bad way, but the world moved on and this building remains still. Luckily, in my mind, nobody lives here. Otherwise, this painting would probably lean to be very sad to me. With nobody to destroy the building or help the building, it just exists as it was meant to exist. It is a time capsule of a different time. The window shutters are shut with care, and everything is crisp and clean. It is not an abandoned building, but a building that was left with intention and knowledge that it would not be returned to.
I hope you are understanding that I seen all these things in a positive manner. This building is at peace and sits unbothered in a beautiful landscape surrounded by picturesque mountains and sprawling fields. It might be alone, but I’m not sure it’s lonely.
