Pastoral Regression II | Sandy Litchfield, 2022
Pastoral Regression II | Sandy Litchfield, 2022

It’s hard for me to explain, but this is exactly how I picture these patchwork agricultural fields in my mind. Every time I see an aerial view of farmlands, I get even more confused. I know you’re supposed to rotate crops around your fields and stuff, but why are the fields always slightly irregular shapes. I’m not looking for answers right now, but just expressing my confusion.

And this piece does a great job reflecting the abstract and seemingly aimless design of farmlands. I also love the layering of paper on the painting that adds some texture and interest to the scene. I feel like I am in a plane flying over my imagination when I look at this.
