We don’t talk about the inland areas of islands enough. When you go on a tropical island vacation, you are typically excited to sit on the beach and visit all the touristy places along the shore with picturesque views, but there is so much to see and learn from the calmness (or even chaos) of what lies a few miles away from the idealistic sandy beaches. Inland you can fight some of the most interesting people such as the farmer who is growing the fruit the island is known for and relies upon exporting for a lot of their financial success. You can find areas of the island that feel more authentic rather than curated for the enjoyment of people that will only stay a few days.
