Untitled – Kiss (Mirror) | Barbara Kruger, 2024

Happy Valentine’s Day! I actually really like Valentine’s Day for some reason. Maybe it’s my love for the color combination of pink and red, but against all odds, the day has always appealed to me. As a kid, I was eager to make the coolest and most creative candy box at school, and I loved making the little candy valentines to give to other people. My crafty Valentine’s Day activities have followed me into adulthood as I seem to continue to use the holiday as an excuse to make various paper crafts. This year, my desire to craft manifested in making paper flower bouquets.

Now this piece has nothing to do with my paper craft obsession, but it does feel Valentine’s Day related. And is also an example of another one of my favorite activities, making typical household pieces more exciting and less practical. We all use mirrors. Why not use a mirror that has the word “KISS”  that block the center of your face. The concept has its flaws, but it makes a significantly more fun mirror. Not to mention every outfit and person could use a pop of red so this mirror easily solves that problem.
