The Gathering no.11 | Sander Coers, 2024

What a concept! This piece comes from a series of images printed onto ceramic tiles and then coated with a colored glaze. It’s a super cool idea, and I love the idea of using tiles with images on them as a backsplash in your kitchen or maybe an accent wall in your shower. It really elevates the tiles and adds a level of interest that could enhance an unsuspecting part of the home. Not to mention, they are beautiful pieces of art on their own.

I love this image of a woman sitting at the bar and how the confines of the tile crop the scene into solely the woman seated with her arm reached our for her glass as the drink is being poured. The entire moment is a daily occurrence, a person being served a drink at the bar, but the crop required by the tile adds some mystery and intrigue.

Now I’m just imagining what kinds of images I would print onto tiles for my home!
