First, freaky.
Finding this piece came at the perfect time. I was just thinking about how much I appreciate the art of literal cutting negatives and photos to create scenes and layering photographs onto one another to add interest. When you thinking about manipulating a photo now, you think of increasing the contrast, changing the colors, or photoshopping different finalized images on the computer. The art of carefully cutting photos into pieces and developing them as one or scientifically exposing a destination multiple times to add different elements. There is so much precision required to achieve an image like this it's no wonder that photography was a science before it was an art although intellect and creativity are equally important to photography.
